Zuallererst muss ich sagen, dass ich vor 3 Jahren in England einen Typen traf - ich erinnere mich an die Situation, da ich ihn zu Polen befragte - und wisst ihr was? Er wollte mir erzählen, dass es nur Kirchen, Denkmäler und solche Sachen in Polen gibt. Könnt ihr euch das vorstellen? Er dachte, bei uns gäbe es keine großen Supermärkte, keine großen Multikinos, und keine modernen Gebäude. Der Typ dachte, dass Polen nur eine historische Stätte ist! Noch schlimmer - er wusste nicht einmal, wo sich Polen auf der Landkarte befindet! Wow. Könnt ihr euch das vorstellen? Die Leute haben solch eine neblige Vorstellung von unserem Land.

Deutschland und Polen sind allerdings Nachbarn, von daher denke ich, dass ihr ein bisschen mehr wisst als dieser englische Typ. Einige von euch waren bereits in Polen, hauptsächlich in Städten wie z.B. Warschau, Gdansk oder Wroclaw (das frühere Breslau, das vor langer, langer Zeit mal zu Deutschland gehörte). Wie gesagt, ich glaube ihr wisst bereits einiges über euren Nachbarn, aber ihr wisst nicht alles. Ihr wisst nichts über die Polnische Fingerboardszene, und ich werde euch ein paar wertvolle Informationen geben, also aufgepasst...

Ok, wann begann alles? Ich erinnere mich, dass die ersten TechDecks vor etwa 7 Jahren in polnischen Skateshops auftauchten. Die ersten Käufer der kleinen Bretter waren, wie könnte es anders sein, Skateboarder. Die meisten dieser Leute wussten nichts über Fingerboards, nichts über Tricks etc.. Fingerboarding erreichte etwa vor vier Jahren größere Popularität in Polen. Mehr und mehr Leute kauften TechDecks, und jeder wollte gute Tricks machen. Ich erinnere mich daran, weil ich mein erstes TechDeck 1999 kaufte, und zunächst Ollie und Kickflip übte. Dies war sehr schwer, nur wenige Leute hatten Internet, somit hatten wir keine Informationen und Hilfen. Es war wirklich eine harte Zeit. Mein erstes Fingerboard z.B. kaufte ich in der Hauptstadt Warschau, weil es unmöglich war, sowas wo ich wohnte zu bekommen (ca. 100km von der Hauptstadt entfernt).

Ok, das war ein bisschen zur Geschichte, aber heute - wie sieht es heutzutage aus? Erstmal sollte man etwas über das polnische Internetportal www.andegrand.pl sagen. Dort findet man sehr viel zu den Theman Skateboarding, Fingerboarding, Rap Music, Graffiti etc. Viele Amateur- und Profibilder, Video, Artikel, Tipps, Step-by-Step-Anleitungen, News natürlich. Kurzum - eine richtig gute Website. Andegrand.Pl trug wesentlich zur Entwicklung und Verbreitung der polnischen Fingerboardszene bei. Communicator, Forum, Kommentare, e-Mag - viele Vorteile eben, großen Respekt für diese beliebte Website, und ich weiß dass viele der heutigen Fingerboader ihre Abenteuer mit diesem Portal begannen.

So, nächster wichtiger Punkt sind natürlich die Leute. Mit einem leichten Gefühl der Unzufriedenheit muss ich zugeben, dass die meisten polnischen Fingerboarder sehr jung sind. Ich spreche hier von der Altersklasse 14-19 Jahre. Es gibt wirklich nicht viele, die 21 oder älter sind, aber es gibt sie (ich zum Beispiel bin 24!). Trotz dieses jungen Alters sind die Leute außerordentlich talentiert. Die besten Fahrer in Polen sind derzeit: Pawel Trojanowski aka Stein, Mateusz Osinski aka Mellow, Krzysiek Godek, Artur Lendzion aka Lendek, und viele andere mit Talent gesegnete Leute. Pawel und Mateusz sind sogar von Andegrand.pl gesponsert. Kürzlich sah ich neue Footage von Pawel, und der Junge ist wirklich gut, verdammt! Zum Beispiel: Kickflip Underflip Nose Manual Nollie Flip Out - Wow! In Kürze wird es ein Interview mit Pawel geben, dann seht ihr auch Bilder und Videos. Nur Geduld.

Der nächste wichtige Punkt: Contests. Der bekannteste und derzeit größte Fingeboard-Contest in Polen ist die Mentor Fingerboard Session. Das letzte Mal fand dieser im Juli in Torun statt, es war bereits Edition #5. Ich glaube, jeder möchte etwas über die Parks wissen. Wir haben keine BlackriverRamps auf den Contests. Der Stuff ist für normale polnische Fingerboarder zu teuer, und die lokalen Skateshops verkaufen keine BRR Obstacles. Andegrand.pl hat seinen eigenen Skateshop ("physikalisch" und online), und ist der Exklusiv-Vertrieb für Blackriver-Produkte in Polen.

Also werden die Fingerparks normalerweise selbst gebaut. Zum Beispiel kann man einige Projekte und Pläne im "A-Zine" (gratis e-Mag von Andegrand.pl) finden, und ich selbst baue auch Parks.

First of all what I have to say is that 3 years ago in England I met a guy. I remember that situation because I asked him about Poland… and you know what!? He told me that there are only churches, monuments and something like that in Poland. Damn! Can you imagine? He thought that we haven’t got any big markets, any big multi-cinemas, any modern buildings. That guy thought that Poland is only a historical place! Moreover – he didn’t know where is Poland on the map! Wow. Can You imagine? People have fog idea of our country! But, Germany and Poland are neighbors, so I suppose that You know something more than that english guy. Some of you have been to Poland, mainly in big cities like for example our capital city Warsaw or Gdansk or Wroclaw (Breslau – which belonged to Germany in the old old past). Like I said – I think that you know something about your neighbor, but you don’t know everything! You don’t know nothing about “Polish Fingerboard Scene”, and I let you know some precious informations! Be careful!

Ok, first of all – when was the beginning?! I remember that first TechDecks appeared in polish skateshops something about seven years ago. First buyers of little skateboards were skateboarders of course. Most of that guys didn’t know nothing about fingerboards, nothing about tricks etc. But fingerboarding got his real popularity about four years ago. Definitely more people were buying TechDecks, and everybody wanted to do some good tricks.

I remember that because I bought my first TechDeck fingerboard in ‘99 year and I was trying to make ollie and kickflip at the beginning. It was very hard because only few people had an internet and we hadn’t got any informations and advices. It was really hard. For example I bought my first fingerboard in our capital city because it was impossible to buy something in the place where I lived (it is about 100km from the capital). Ok, it is was a little bit of history, and now – how it is going nowadays?!

So, at the beginning it is necessary to say something about the polish internet portal www.andegrand.pl. It is the place where We can find a lot of precious informations about skateboarding, fingerboarding, rap music, grafitti etc. A lot of amateurish and professional pictures, videos, articles, advices, step-by-steps, news of course. Short – very very good website. Andegrand.pl had also huge contribution in development and proliferation mainly of fingerboard scene in Poland. Communicator, forum, opinions, e-magazine – a lot of advantages! Huge respect. It is very popular website and I know that the most of present fingerboarders started their adventures with just this portal. Once again – huge respect for really huge contribution in polish fingerskating.

Ok, next very important point, namely – people. I have to say, with a little bit of unpleasentness, that the most polish fingerboarders are very young. I’m talking about ages middling from 14 to 19. It is really little amount of people under for example age 21. But there are of course (I’m 24 years old, for example)! Though this young age, those guys are very very talented. Nowadays the best riders in Poland are: Pawel Trojanowski aka Stein, Mateusz Osinski aka Mellow, Krzysiek Godek, Artur Lendzion aka Lendek and much more. Honestly high skilled riders. Pawel and Mateusz are even sponsored by Andegrand.pl. I have seen new video of Pawel recently and I have to say that this guy is damn good! For example: kickflip underflip to nosemanual nollie kickflip out – wow! It will be little inteview with Pawel soon and you could see some pictures and videos. So, be patient.

Ok, another important point – entertainments and contests. The most popular and actually the biggest regular fingerboard contest in Poland is Mentor Fingerboard Session. Last that contest was in July in city of Torun and it was edition number five. I suppose that everybody want to know something about fingerparks. We haven’t got BlackRiver ramps on the contests. This stuff is too costly for usual polish fingerboarder and our local skateshops don’t sell BR spots. Andegrand.pl has got own skateshop (stationary and on-line) and it is the one and only distributor of BlackRiver products in Poland. That’s why all fingerparks are usually made by fingerboarders. For example, You can find some projects/plans of fingerboard spots in A-zine (free e-magazine released by Andegrand.pl) and I am also a designer.

Ok, I think that it is enough about your neighbor’s fingerboard scene. I have to invite you on the next polish contest or something like that, but now I don’t know nothing about any nearest event.
