Stephanie Gilmore gewinnt zum dritten Mal in Folge den ASP Womens World Title

28.11. Sunset Beach, Oahu/ Hawaii - die 21 jährige Stephanie Gilmore aus Australien gewann zum dritten Mal in Folge den Titel der ASP Women’s World Tour 2009. Damit ist sie auch die erste Person überhaupt in der Surf Historie, der es gelang, jedes Jahr seit ihrer ersten Teilnahme an der ASP Tour, diese zu gewinnen.

Die begehrte Krone konnte ihr bereits beim vorletzen Event des Jahres, dem Gidget Pro Sunset Beach verliehen werden, nachdem sie dort den dritten Platz erreicht hatte.

Beim letzten Event Stopp Mitte Dezember diesen Jahres, dem Billabong Pro Maui wird ausserdem noch der Titel des Vans Triple Crown Siegers verliehen. Gilmore hat bereits die letzten zwei Siege auf Maui für sich entschieden.
“I only have one event win and the Vans Triple Crown title is still on the line,” sagt Gilmore. “Although I have a more relaxed approach to this event now that the title has been decided, I’d love to finish the year up with a win. I know that everyone will be surfing hard with the Triple Crown title up for grabs and I’m looking forward to it.”
